Kuhn Sails produce now Ullman Sails in Romanshorn
Kuhn Sails now also produces Ullman Sails in Romanshorn. We develop, design and produce here in our loft. We have obtained the exclusive rights for the whole of Switzerland, Southern Germany and Austria. We are very happy about this collaboration. This way an immense knowhow on Sailingdesign and Sailingmanufacture has been brought together. Ullman Sails is present worldwide with 38 Lofts. They have a Central Design Team headed by Dave Ullman. He is quadruple Worldchampion for 470 and Melges 24. He was Yachtsman of the Year. The Ullman Team led several Crews to Olympic Successes. Ullman Sails are heavily present with J22,24,80, Melges 24, TP52, RC 44, Tornado and A-Cat. “Fiberpath” Sails are very convenient for our lightwind areas. They are sails where the fibers are laminated into the sail according to the distribution of the loads. Thus a lot of weight can be saved while insuring a maximum stability of the Sail.

Victory for Holy-Smoke with Kuhn Sails on the "Rund-Um 2011"
Holy-Smoke wins the 61st AROUND 2011 on Lake Constance in 6:41 hours compared to 300 boats. How was that possible. With a relatively old boat? How was it possible, faster than the Ventilo M2 and SL33?
Dieter Kuhn of Kuhn Sails, Romanshorn, is not only an experienced racing sailors. He has considerable technical expertise surveying. The aerodynamic calculations and the measurement of the Holy Smoke were in fact the big challenge. As the boat had to be twisted in order to come as close to the ground under sailing conditions? The many adaptations are the result of a lengthy collaboration with Albert Schiess (Swiss Olympic participants with Tornado), which made the statistical calculations, and Hans Ruedi Keller, who was responsible for the work with carbon and the rigging.
